4 Essential Selection Guidelines for Quick Exhaust Valves

The pneumatic system works with the extension and compression of air and therefore, requires multiple valves at various points. The valves are automated with the help of actuators which induces their work whenever the need arises. One such valve is a quick exhaust valve. 

Quick exhaust valves are designed to allow the exhaust of compressed air from the pneumatic system. They help to increase the cylinder cycle speed in the pneumatic system thus, resulting in an efficient work cycle.

As in any other automation components, quick exhaust valves are built for different requirements and hence, are different in specifications.

1. Ambient Temperature

Pneumatic systems work under different environmental conditions. Therefore, the specific rating of the working conditions of its automation component is also different.

Some quick exhaust valves work in ambient temperature ranging up to 120 celsius while some starts malfunctioning after only 80 celsius.

Therefore, it is crucial to determine the rating of the working temperature of the valve and choose them accordingly.

2. Operating Pressure

Like explained above, automation components work under different conditions, therefore, it is important to focus on the specification of the QEV.

Operating pressure is also one of the major criteria you should focus upon. As some have the maximum operating pressure rating marked at 10 bar while some can endure only up to 7 bar.

Using a QEV which has a lower pressure rating in a high-pressure working condition can cause a hazardous situation which can put the lives of workers at risk.

3. With or Without Silencer

QEVs are of different types and primarily comes in two different forms, with a silencer, and without a silencer.

A silencer or muffler is a tool with which you can shut out down or minimize the noise coming from the system. This helps in the quiet working of your pneumatic system.

A silencer is optional and depends on you, you can choose any of them as the primary function of QEV is not affected by it.

4. Size

QEV is an essential automation component which is fitted in pneumatic systems for its smooth working. As the QEV is fitted inside of a pneumatic system it becomes mandatory to focus on the size of it.

As different pneumatic system have different spaces for QEV which makes it impossible for a particular size of QEV to fit in a different system with different size for QEV.

Some sizes of QEVs are : 1/4",1/2", 3/4" & 1"
